The aPHR™, which demonstrates foundational knowledge of human resource operations as practiced in the United States, is the first ever HR certification designed for professionals who are embarking on an HR career or transitioning into the HR field.

This new designation is perfect for individuals planning a career in human resources starting with high school graduates and college students seeking a degree in HR. The course is also ideal for those serving in HR support roles or who have HR responsibilities but do not currently hold an HR position, as well as military personnel seeking HR professional development or transitioning to civilian HR roles. The only Eligibility Requirements to sit for the Exam are a high school diploma or global equivalent and you must be located in the United States.

Important Things to Know

  • This course is offered evenings at Eastern Standard Time. See details by clicking on the red Schedule and Registration button at the top of this page.
  • In order to receive program materials, all registrants must pay for the Study Course on or before the first day of the class. Payment in full for the Study Course must be made before materials will be shipped.
  • Webinar instructions will be sent out one week prior to the session.
  • Materials will be shipped to you two weeks prior to the session and will arrive on or around the start date for the session.
  • If you cancel after receiving the course materials, a nonrefundable materials fee of $500 will be charged.
  • If you are using your telephone instead of your computer for audio, you will be responsible for all telephone charges.

About the Instructor

Hillary Luton, PHR, PHRi, aPHR is employed with Distinctive HR, Inc (DHR). She retired as a lieutenant colonel from the Army after 32 years and joined the DHR team to work in Product Development. She has gained extensive experience in Human Resources, leadership, writing, editing, marketing and public speaking. Hillary was part of the group to take the pilot aPHR in May '16. She is excited about the opportunity to teach this new course with co-instructor Brittany Siler.

Brittany Siler, PHR, PHRi, aPHR is employed with Distinctive HR, Inc (DHR). After spending 10 years in the veterinary field she made the jump to Distinctive HR. Since that time she has performed HR Consulting, assisted with all subsequent PHR/SPHR classes and cram sessions, and managed all of the class study groups. After joining the first group of individuals to obtain aPHR certification she is delighted to have the ability to teach this new class with her co-instructor Hillary Luton.
